Summit is stronger when the Credit Union industry is stronger.
Summit Credit Union is a credit union industry leader in political advocacy. We work with the WI Credit Union League, CUNA, NASCUS and other organizations to promote credit union friendly legislation on behalf of our members and the interests of the more than 2.2 million Wisconsin credit union members who want to retain the right to belong to a not-for-profit, member-owned financial cooperative that returns earnings to members.
By cultivating pro-credit union relationships and pro-actively telling the credit union story with lawmakers, legislators and community leaders, we increase appreciation for the Credit Union Difference. This in turn, helps credit unions:
Countless members of Summit Credit Union heeded our call to send a message to Congress saying “Don’t Tax My Credit Union!”
March 13, 2014, Reps. Ed Royce, R-Calif., and Jared Huffman, D-Calif., introduced legislation (H.R. 4226) to exempt certain residential loans from credit unions’ federal statutory cap on member business lending.
February 24, 2014, more than 4,400 credit union Activists from around the country, including Summit Credit Union Activists, converged on Washington D.C. to advocate for credit unions and our members on Capitol Hill.
February 12, 2014, four Summit Credit Union employees and over 210 credit union Activists from across the state assembled in Madison for the 2014 State Government Affairs Conference.
