Summit Credit Union is committed to helping you achieve your education goals. Whether you're a student or the parent of a student, we're here to help you navigate your options.

Federal Loans
Summit previously participated in the Federal Family Education Loan (FFEL) Program. In March 2010, new legislation ended the FFEL Program, meaning financial institutions like Summit no longer have a role in funding federal student loans.

As of July 1, 2010, all new federal student loans must be issued through the U.S. Department of Education's Federal Direct Loan Program. Unfortunately if you've used Summit as your lender in the past for Stafford and PLUS loans, you'll no longer have that option.

To learn more about the federal government's Direct Loan Program, visit the Department of Education's website or contact your school's financial aid office.

Other Loan Options
Although Summit will no longer be funding federal student loans, we're still here to assist with your education goals in whatever way we can. When federal student loans are not enough, consider other loan options through Summit.
