Currently, a contest scam is going around Madison whereby recipients receive a check that appears to be issued by Summit Credit Union with an enclosed letter claiming they have won a promotion. Other financial institutions in the area are also finding these checks claiming to be issued by their credit union.

This scam asks victims to send in money to be eligible for their winnings. If you receive one of these letters and checks, please know that it is a scam and under no circumstances should you call the sender, give any personal information or send any money.
