Kim Sponem Honored for Lifetime Achievement in Credit Union Industry
Summit Credit Union CEO & President inducted into Credit Union Executive Society Hall of Fame
MADISON, Wis. — In recognition of a lifetime of achievement and dedication to the credit union movement, Summit Credit Union CEO & President Kim Sponem was inducted into the Credit Union Executive Society (CUES) Hall of Fame in November. The honor celebrates Sponem’s outstanding professional achievements and contributions to the industry.
CUES is dedicated to providing support and development opportunities to credit union professionals and executives. Their annual Hall of Fame inductions recognize executives who have gone above and beyond in demonstrating a commitment to self-improvement, involvement in community service and advancing the credit union industry as a whole.
“CUES has been a part of my entire career, as my first job out of college was at CUES, and it gave me an opportunity to work directly with CEOs in the movement. It’s an honor to serve on the board of directors of an organization that offers thought leaders high-quality learning opportunities, brings them together, and helps them stay out in front. I believe that CUES had a hand in helping me get to the CEO & president position 18 years ago, and I am honored to be named to their Hall of Fame.”
As Summit Credit Union’s CEO & President since 2002, Sponem has helped the financial cooperative grow from $200 million to $3.6 billion in assets, while expanding its footprint from four locations to 40 across south-central and southeastern Wisconsin.
Under Sponem’s leadership, Summit has won dozens of awards recognizing its community service, including the Philanthropy Award for Outstanding Business and three Governor’s Financial Literacy Awards. Sponem also received the Edgewood College Alumni Award for Ethical Leadership and Outstanding Service in 2018 and was named one of Madison’s 25 Most Influential People by In Business Magazine in 2014.
