Summit Credit Union Celebrates New Branch Opening in Monona with Donations to Community Non-Profits
MADISON, Wis.—To celebrate opening a new branch in Monona, Summit Credit Union gave $50 to local charities for each new checking account opened during two weeks in January. New members selected which of three local nonprofits they would like the credit union to support. New members also received $50 credited to their checking account.
“As a cooperative focused on its members and building strong communities, we are proud to be involved in Monona and supporting local non-profits as part of opening our 34th branch,” said Summit CEO & President Kim Sponem.
GIRLS’BIZ, a volunteer-run nonprofit for middle school girls who learn about finances, entrepreneurship and philanthropy received $1,300. “The money will help with graduation ceremonies in March and programs for the next group of girls joining the organization,” said Janelle Higgins, Director of GIRLS‘BIZ. “We are so grateful to Summit Credit Union for their support of GIRLS’BIZ.”
The Monona Grove School District received $950. “Community partnerships like this one with Summit Credit Union assists the Monona Grove School District in offering great opportunities for our students,” said Jerrud Rossing, Director of Business Services.
The Monona Parks and Recreation will use the $850 donation they received to defray the cost of community special events and provide youth scholarships for children in need. “Building a strong community is a team effort and we’re grateful to local businesses like Summit Credit Union to keep our area vital,” said Melissa Kedzorski, Recreation Supervisor.
