Love is a common theme this time of year, so in that spirit, we’ve compiled a few suggestions on how to love yourself … because why not?! We know how easy it is to get busy and caught up in the daily grind, and oftentimes we’re too focused on what’s ahead rather than pausing to celebrate all that we’ve accomplished, both big wins and small!
So, take a breath this month and do something for yourself. Let these four tips guide your way. You can thank us later.
- Let your hair down. That’s right. Take an entire night off and hit the town with friends and do, well, whatever you want! Whether it’s dinner at your favorite restaurant or catching up on the award-winning movies you missed, make an effort to take a break from the grind. Extra points if you take advantage of a local happy hour and treat yourself and your wallet! Just sayin’…
- Open your closet. And dress it up. We all have something we’d like to spruce up our wardrobe. Let this month be your chance! Whether it’s a new blouse for the office or fresh workout gear, take the opportunity to add your most wanted item to that dresser. We’d love to tell you to keep in mind both long-term use and BOGO deals but not this time—this is your month.
- Visit the doc. Not as in an MD, but the massage and relaxation doctor. We get busy, and we forget to celebrate sometimes—who couldn’t use a massage or day at the spa to make up for that? Talk about treating yourself. Call up a few of your closest friends and family members or enjoy the day solo; either way this will be a huge win for you.
- Get out of town. We mean it. Consider taking some sort of destination trip to truly check out and give yourself a break. Staycations can work, too. Maybe it’s spending the extra dollars to get a suite at the hotel you pass on your way to work, or you find a last-minute flight deal to Nashville. Who knows? Look at your options and get out of here!
There you have it, savvy savers. Or should we say self-indulgent spenders? (One month doesn’t hurt, right?) Consider one of these options to love yourself this month and keep coming back to the Money Smarts blog for more ideas!
