What wealth management really means (and why you need it!)

You’ve probably seen ads and websites that talk about wealth management. Did you have a hard time getting past the word “wealth”? After all, when we’re digging in the bottom of our purses to pull together lunch money, most of us aren’t feeling very wealthy.

So think of it this way: “wealth management” means helping you achieve financial security. That’s what wealth management is really all about—and something we can all get behind.

But how do you get there? We have a great place to start: Summit Financial Advisors and these three steps.

Step 1. Get past your misperceptions about financial advisors.

Do you hear the words financial advisor and think things like, way too confusing, expensive and locked in? But here’s the thing, a good financial advisor is none of those and is all about helping you achieve (you guessed it!), financial security.

Summit Financial Advisors will take the time to understand what you need help with and what you need to feel in control of your future. They’ll work hard to cut the jargon and make it easy to understand your options.

Your advisor will show you there are lots of ways to get the help you need—and that they probably cost less than you expect. Especially when you think about how much it will cost you in the long run if you don’t take control of your financial security now.

Last, your advisor will show you how to build a financial plan that gives you lots of flexibility. Life changes and you need a plan that lets you change with it.

Step 2. Start small.

Maybe you’re not quite sure what you want help with. Or not quite ready to set up an appointment.

Try poking around in the investment section of our website. A good place to start: Our calculator library

Our calculators let you take stock of a lot of different things. You can experiment with how your assets are divvied up, see what it will really take to get your kids through college, set up a budget and analyze your retirement plans.

Step 3. Set up that appointment!

Now that you know how an advisor can help you and what you’d like help with, take a deep breath and set up that appointment. It’s easy and you’ll feel so much better knowing you’ve put yourself on the path to financial security.

Hey! You’re on the path to owning your money. And doesn’t that feel great?
