Summit Credit Union Celebrates With Members at Annual Summit Fest
MADISON, Wis.—May 25, 2017—Over 2,600 people attended Summit Credit Union’s annual member meeting and family event, Summit Fest, at the Duck Pond (Mallards Stadium) at Warner Park.
Like most annual meetings, Summit’s event highlights the past year’s accomplishments. Unlike most annual meetings, Summit adds obstacle races, games, picnic lunches and cupcakes, too. “Summit Fest is our way of saying thank you to our members. We are celebrating the impact we make together on the lives of individuals, families and the community. My vision is for kids to grow up with great memories of being a part of Summit’s annual meeting, understanding what makes us unique, and that they are part of something not only bigger, but better,” said Summit Credit Union President & CEO Kim Sponem.
Some of the 2016 accomplishments celebrated were Summit’s position as the top mortgage lender in Dane County1 for the seventh consecutive year and the number one Small Business Administration lender by number of loans among all credit unions in the State of Wisconsin2 for the sixth year in a row. Additionally, Summit received the 2016 Governor’s Financial Literacy Award for the credit union’s community financial education program, Project Money. Members also heard about a new opportunity to help provide financial resources and access to developing communities across the world by using Summit’s new Visa Global Good Card™.
The member-owned financial cooperative also uses its annual member meeting as a backdrop to award several board scholarships: Alex Thomas (Edgewood High School), Julianna Kuecker (Edgewood High School) and Mya Lonnebotn (East High School) each received a $1,500 Board of Directors scholarship, and the Urban League of Greater Madison’s 21stCentury Careers Program was awarded the $2,500 Mary Siedlecki Scholarship. Allison Bultman, recipient of the $5,000 Summit Faust Scholarship earlier this year, was also recognized at the event.
