Summit Credit Union Breaks Ground on Dynamic Headquarters in Cottage Grove
New campus showcases financial cooperative’s commitment to sustainability, wellness
MADISON, Wis.—Summit Credit Union officially broke ground this week on its new headquarters in Cottage Grove. The 152,000-square-foot, six-story building will demonstrate the financial cooperative’s dedication to sustainability and feature expansive wellness spaces for Summit employees along with a full-service credit union branch.
“We’re excited to make Cottage Grove the new home for our headquarters. Making a positive impact on the communities we’re a part of is very important to all of us at Summit. We hope our new headquarters will have a ripple effect on businesses and visitors to Cottage Grove,” said Summit Credit Union CEO & President Kim Sponem. “We’re also very proud to offer a new branch location for our members in and near Cottage Grove and our employees an enhanced workspace, focused on their health and wellness.”
The member-owned financial cooperative’s sustainability focus will be prominent both internally and externally as Summit works toward achieving LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Silver certification, which verifies reduced use of water, energy and greenhouse gas emissions.
Among other features, the new building will feature enhanced air circulation, green-friendly flooring and lighting and a 17,500-gallon rainwater harvest cistern to capture and reuse rainwater. There will also be electric car chargers for both Summit Credit Union members and its employees.
Additional attributes will include exercise and meditation rooms for employees, a sand volleyball court, and a cafeteria, along with a walking and biking path. Designed by Madison-based architecture firm Strang, Inc., construction will be executed by J.H. Findorff & Son Inc.
The new campus will be located at 1709 Landmark Drive in Cottage Grove and is set to open in 2019.
