Idah's Journey:

Planning to not spend

September is gone! Only three more months left in the Project Money journey. I can't believe how fast time is moving. Project Money has been so instrumental in my financial well-being. I am trying to think back to April before starting Project Money. The level of stress that I had was insane. I was always afraid of anything happening when I didn’t have emergency savings. I had so many small debts and no plan on how to tackle all of them. Well here I am months later. I definitely feel so much at peace. Things are not perfect of course (as you probably saw in my last two blogs) however, my financial health is so much better overall! I can't wait to see all my progress in December.

This week, my main focus was preparing for my no-spend October. I visited my October budget three times and feel like over the last four months, I have been very good at setting goals and meeting them. But, when my no-spend month didn't work out, I felt challenged! I have altered my budget so many times to make sure I didn't miss any events that would result in me spending unplanned money. I feel so confident about my no-spend October.

The part I am most excited about is that this month I am going to make sure I have accountability partners that I can talk to throughout the month. My first one is my financial coach, Brooke. Anytime I feel tempted to spend I will definitely text my coach and make sure I think things through before making a purchase. My other partner will be my fiancé. He has been really supportive and saw the disappointment I had after overspending in September. My other plan is to make sure I find things that I don’t need around the house to sell if I absolutely want to buy something. That way it will be like I am exchanging one thing for another item. I am looking forward to the results!
