Jaclyn and Kiara's Journey:

exhaustion vs. enjoying life

We are sure that all of our family, friends and anyone else that has been following us along this journey is wondering how we are doing after a week of relaxation (only working our full time jobs). Let us just say that it is everything that we have wanted it to be and so much more. You never really know how much you are missing out on until you take a step back, breathe and really look at your life. Some people just thought we’ve worked a lot but if we really break it down… we worked roughly 140 hours a week for the last 65 weeks and it would be 67 weeks but we did take a well deserved 2 week break for vacation! It was craziness and extremely exhausting. We are going to be posting some of the questions that we have been asked and our responses in order to give more insight into how wonderful it has truly been.

How are you guys feeling?

So here we are fresh off of our first week free from the part time job craziness. It has been so amazing! Let's look at it from a work standpoint. Before, when working our overnight jobs and the part time day jobs, by the time 3am would hit, we would be ready to crash. Slamming red bull and caffeinated beverages seemed to be the best option and after awhile it seemed like those were not even working. Now we are feeling so rejuvenated and refreshed. It seems as though our productivity has shot through the roof and by the time we get to the end of night shifts it feels like we could run a marathon.. Okay maybe more like a 5k but anything is better than we were feeling. There is nothing like being able to get to actually sleep a normal amount of hours or an acceptable amount. We just have more energy and it truly feels great!

Do you two miss the money?

Needless to say, we definitely will but peace of mind is so much better. It has really started to hit our minds since it has only been one week but we have been thinking about how it will affect our future and we know that if we just keep doing what we are doing now that we will be fine. When you make good financial choices and stick to them there is no way that you can go wrong. We prepared for this just in case something came up and this shows through our peace of mind savings goal that we set and have reached already! We have achieved so much in the last six months financially that we feel like we deserve to only work our main jobs and to keep building our financial future.

What seems to be the most asked question – WHAT HAVE YOU GUYS BEEN DOING?

We have been doing a little bit of everything! Our first priority was to catch up on a bit of sleep but outside of that, we have been just enjoying life. We have had the opportunity to catch up with some of our friends that we have missed very much and to spend time with family by attending birthday parties and other events that we wouldn’t have been able to while working both jobs. But mostly, we have just been packing our apartment in order to get ready for finding a new place to live. We haven’t done as much as we would like to but it has only been a week and we have our entire futures ahead of us.

This has been one of the best choices we have made for our wellbeing – mentally, physically and financially. You may ask how quitting your job can be a good financial choice? Well when we started Project Money, we told them that one major thing we wanted to achieve outside of reducing our debt and raising our credit scores was to quit working two jobs and we have achieved just that! We would take enjoying life over exhaustion any day and we don’t regret our choice for a second!
