Maiya's Journey:
The Final Countdown
It’s that time of the year again when you reminisce and look back over the year and start thinking ahead to next year. Every year, I try to make a personal goals list that I work on throughout the year. Some of the goals are random, some are fun, some carry over every year. Since I’ve been sharing progress on my financial goals, I thought I might share some other goals I’ve been working on alongside Project Money!
- Read 52 books: I’m an avid reader and I try to do this every year. So far I’m at 74 with two in progress and about 6 more I have checked out from the library to read before the end of the year.
- Visit 10 new state parks: I love getting outside and hiking and I’m super proud that I was able to visit all 47 state parks with my dogs this year! I also crossed off visiting a national park and camping off my goals list. I think my next goal will be a Great Lakes trip or another national park that’s dog friendly.
- New AKC titles: My older dog, Olly, was on track to get his FCAT title this year and we finally entered into our first agility competition. I’d love to see him title in agility by the end of the year! My younger dog, Finn, still has a trick title in progress too. There are a bunch of other sports I’ve dabbled in – dock diving, barn hunt, rally, and I have an interest in conformation – that I’d really love to dedicate more time into in 2023.
- Take a Break: The last few years have been incredibly hard and I pushed myself into working so much I could tell I was burnt out. This year, I really wanted to focus on other things that brought me joy – my dogs, getting outside, traveling – and not feel guilty about taking a break or taking time off work. Even though I’m currently in the holiday grind, I took about half the summer off to do all of the things I love which gave me a much needed recharge.
Project Money has given me so many tools to change my financial habits, I can’t wait to put those to use in the future to accomplish other personal goals as well. Do you keep a goals list throughout the year?
