Karl and Heather's Journey:

GGGGGOOOOOAAAAALLLLL!

For Team Duncan, 99% of the time email alerts are bad news.

This week however, we received an alert that at first made our stomachs churn, but in the end gave us huge cause to celebrate!

The message was simple and to the point: “You have a new alert.” Sure, our daily goals to get Hadley to the bus on-time and Phoebe out front to meet her walking buddy (both with their backpacks & lunches) are important, we are quite sure Team Duncan was not being rewarded for doing what we are expected to do.

Instead, this alert came from Summit Credit Union…and in-particular via our personalized Money Minder phone/email App:

Summit Credit Union's Money Minder. you havea new alert. Goal Alert you've done it! You've achieved your pay off a credit card goal!

No virtual balloons, dancing images or confetti. Instead, the simple truth that we accomplished something we promised ourselves we would one day do. The actual breadth of our accomplishment far exceeds this basic notification…It means we no longer are prisoners to the plastic-logoed rectangles that have demonized our lives for years.

Below is the summary of our goal straight from the pixels of Money Minder (I added the lime green text box) to forever serve as a reminder to us and anyone else sending that monthly payment (sometimes just the minimum) can be overcome. Our now-proven mantra is: By following a financial plan and budget, anything is possible!

Goal:Pay off a credit card. You paid x% interest..never do that again!

By the time this post is public, Heather and I will have already highlighted the values and benefits of Money Minder on NBC15 News. However, please do us and yourselves a solid by printing this post and hanging it somewhere special. The financial freedom of carrying only a debit card & a gas card that is paid off weekly in your wallet/purse is absolutely liberating!
