Idah's Journey:
the good meltdown
This week has been super emotional. In fact, I even had a meltdown a couple times, but it was a good kind of emotional. I was reflecting on how we have just two months of Project Money left and how my life has been transformed! First, I successfully completed a no-spend October! After a failed no-spend September, I was not that hopeful but hey, I powered through! I successfully only spent money on essentials and needs, not wants. I totally recommend doing a no-spend month to anyone considering it. I had a lot of time to reflect on my buying habits.
The second and more powerful reason why I was so emotional was because during the week, I realized something special. I looked at my savings accounts and saw that even though they are far from being perfect, they are the closest to perfect they have ever been! I have the most amount of money saved than any other time in my life. In fact, I have more money saved than my parents and grandparents ever had their entire lives. To me, this is very important and special. It shows me that I am headed in the right direction towards being the role model that I want to be to my future children, my sister and all the young ladies of color. I am setting my own precedence. Just experiencing this makes me never want to go backwards and I guess that’s how success starts. I am excited to finish the competition strong. This month my main goal is still to avoid unnecessary spending especially holiday spending.
