Jaclyn and Kiara's Journey:
holiday decorations on a budget!
If you are like us, then you absolutely love the lights, snow and seeing all of the beautiful decorations at stores and on houses. Trust us, we cannot wait to be able to decorate our future home and just sit back and bask in all of its glory. Also, if you are from the Madison area and have not actually driven through the Fantasy Lights on John Nolen yet, you are totally missing out! It does not cost a thing and if you have children, they will love it. If you are able to donate, they definitely appreciate it so that they can continue to put on the show every year. They also give out those adorable mini candy canes when there is an attendant working. Another cost effective thing you can do with family, as a couple or just by yourself is to go see the Zoo Lights at the Henry Vilas Zoo. They are so beautiful and are in all of these cool animal shapes. So brew some hot chocolate at home, throw it in your favorite holiday mug and make sure to get out and enjoy the season with these awesome events!
Everyone knows that we are bargain shoppers and will be forever! We LOVE listening to Christmas music and decorating for the holidays. We just know that it's the right way to rock the night away! Here's how we decorate on a budget. We save almost anything that we can so we try to buy ornaments that don't break, we don't buy a new tree every year and can’t believe that some people actually do. We also are the type of people to keep those extra bulbs that come with the string lights in order to change a light if we need to instead of throwing them away and buying brand new. We also make sure to put tinsel and garland away in the neatest way that we possibly can in order to be able to reuse it the next year.
Our biggest holiday decorating on a budget advice is to BUY AT THE END OF THE SEASON! We have been able to stock up on such much stuff from gift card-holders and wrapping paper to ornaments and other decorations. There is nothing like not having to worry about buying these things when they are top dollar and only adding to the collection when we come across a good deal. We are definitely the type of people that will decorate before Thanksgiving and not pull our tree down until well into the new year. So if you are a holiday giver or decorator, make sure to wait it out until the end of December and get the most bang for you buck!
