Sarah's Journey:
house crazy
Has anyone out there gone house-crazy? It starts out as periodically looking at home listings, just to see what’s out there. Then it ramps up in intensity, you look more frequently and lo and behold, a listing comes up that fits perfectly with your requirements. You start sweating. You think, “I could do this, I could buy this house. I’ve always wanted a ranch with a fenced backyard so Doc and Bear could run and explore.” And to be honest, that’s the whole reason I want a house. It’s so my fur friends can have room to roam, to better their quality of life.
Well, last week that happened. I found a house. I reached out to my coach and showed her the listing. We immediately sprang into action and made an appointment with a mortgage expert at Summit. I frantically put down budget numbers to compare what I’m paying now to what I would pay in the future.
Then I took a breath. After talking to my coach, my real estate friend and calming down, I realized that I don’t need a house. I didn’t plan for a house purchase. I can get a place in the future but first, make the plan, then work the plan. So that’s what I’m going to do. And remember, there’s always another house.
