Angie and Cris' Journey:
How to be frugal
We have some great ideas for you that have been working for us. We haven’t shared money saving tips in a while, so here are some things that we have been doing and have had success with in regards to not spending money unnecessarily.
- Making dinner (meals) at home
- We just got done grilling bacon wrapped pork and it was delicious (it was on sale at the grocery store). Sometimes we end up having leftovers, which can help with meals or lunches the next day, but not this time!
- Bringing lunch to work and school from home
- We have been saving a lot of money by packing our lunches and not going out for lunch while at work. Carly and Blake do not generally enjoy school hot lunch, so, we pack their lunches daily as well.
- Shopping for savings
- If we need to buy essentials, we always try to find deals. This past weekend, I found good deals at the Columbia outlet store. I found the kids some fall/waterproof jackets for 50% off, saving $37! I also bought makeup at Walgreens, which was on sale, buy 2 get 1 free!
- Cris bought a kit at Cabela’s to make his own trolling rigs, instead of buying already made rigs, which can save us hundreds of dollars.
- Coffee/espresso Savings
- We buy the coffee and cappuccino at the grocery store for our Keurig at home, so we don’t go to Starbucks or Kwik Trip.
- Auto maintenance
- Cris is pretty handy with automobile maintenance, so he is able to do our oil changes, tire rotations, brake fixing, and some other minor mechanical repairs for our vehicles.
- Babysitter
- We have some awesome nieces that have been babysitting for Blake and Carly for years. Lately we’ve been asking for help from our family members to save a little extra cash when we go out together or with friends.
Please, send us your money saving tips. Share ours with your family and friends. Share theirs with us. Together we all can save and still have what we need. Saving is something we all want to do, and together we all can make it happen.
