Angie and Cris' Journey:
It’s so easy to just eat out
I grocery shop at different stores; however, I recently downloaded the Pick N’ Save app. I can download e-coupons to my rewards card. Also, you can get twice as many fuel points with the fuel coupon on weekends for a limited time. Cheaper gas and coupons?? What could be better when trying to save money?! I found some really cool deals on things I normally purchase for groceries this weekend, not to mention getting double fuel points. I may have had to buy 6 things, but it was mix and match and I would have bought all the things anyway. Carly likes to help check off things on my list while we shop, and both kids add a few things to the list sometimes as well. I saved $22 on sale items and e-coupons, spending only $52! The picture is of some of the less expensive things I bought. I then went to the gas station and received $0.30 per gallon, so I only paid $2.43 per gallon for over 18 gallons of gas, saving me about $5.50. Every little bit helps!
Google tells me it takes 21 days to break a habit, but 66 days to form a habit. Well…it’s the first month of this journey. We can’t beat up on ourselves yet. We need to resist the urge on eating out and stopping at the gas station for a soda or a candy bar. Last week it was, “Can we go to Dairy Queen?” to which I reply, “No, we have ice cream at home.” And then Blake asked me “Can we go out to eat at Salvatore’s Tomato Pies for dinner?” “No,” I said, “we’ll go home and eat dinner.” Would I have gone there? Possibly. We actually didn’t have any plans for that night. No baseball, no school meeting, no ballet, no golf!
We will have temptations tomorrow and the next day, as there is baseball, concessions, and ballet class. So I’ll have to make sure I plan on what we can quickly eat at home and what snacks I can pack, so the kids aren’t starving and thirsty every 15 minutes.
I hope the grocery tips help!
