Jasmine's Journey:

life matters

This week has been somewhat challenging for me. Between working at my full-time job, picking up hours at my part-time job on the weekend and having three kids, life can become overwhelming.

It’s challenging to stay on top of everything. My oldest child, Kamari, started camp this week at the YMCA and Jaylee started ballet classes on Thursday nights. I’m also trying to figure out swimming lessons for Mekhi. Besides that, my mom is unable to be Mekhi’s caretaker anymore so I’m coordinating with Mekhi’s dad to get him to his weekly appointment.

I’m staying in contact with my lender and realtor to make sure everything is going well for my home closing on July 16. Not to mention, we’re currently staying in a small place with family and all our belongings are in storage. I am still trying to keep up with my Project Money tasks and monitor my spending, which can be stressful as well.

It sounds like I’m complaining right now, but all of this has happened in the past seven days. I am grateful for all the positive things that are going on in my life, but things are overwhelming too. Sometimes, it isn’t just financial burdens; my mental state can also get overwhelmed.

This past Sunday, my kids lost their great grandmother on their dad’s side. Mekhi and Jaylee may be too young to understand, but Kamari knew her well. We gathered with family all day on Sunday and grieved. Sometimes, through all the struggles people go through, you have to find the positivity in everything. Life matters and taking care of your well-being helps with moving forward. I am very grateful for this opportunity in Project Money and even though I find some weeks more challenging than others, I will continue to push to finish this challenge.
