Moriah and Terrance's Journey:

Open Enrollment

Every October I have my open enrollment for our health insurance. The one thing I do is look back at the prior year and decide how much to contribute to our health savings account. This account helps us to offset our out of pocket cost by having pre-tax money set aside to use. But you HAVE to plan. If you don’t use it you lose it.

Some of things we take into consideration:

  • We both wear contacts and glasses
  • We have monthly prescriptions
  • We have a sweet little boy, who runs around the house like a mad man just looking for his first accident to get us to the ER for his first stitches! And the first of many co-pays.

It’s nice because it’s all needed expenses but because it comes out of the weekly paycheck we don’t feel the hurt!

So if you’re offered this at your job you might want to look into it!
