Venus' Journey:

The Power of Saving

Saving! How can you possibly save being an entrepreneur? I remember when I first started my business there was literally no money to save. I felt like I was just trying to make it to the next job and pay off my bills. What I found that made a massive transformation in my finances was saving. The saving switched my emotional fears around money around.

Again I hear you asking how the heck can you save if you don’t have any money. What I did was started saving coins at first. I got a jar and just would put any little bit of change I had in the jar, and could not touch it for anything. This little bit of saving really changed my perceptive about money and my relationship to money, it made me always feel like I always had some type of money. Knowing that I had some type of money gave me confidence and having confidence in business is key if you what to sell anything. It’s almost like people can sense if you really need them, which in turn makes them not want to work with you. Confidence is major and having a little bit of money makes you feel a little bit taller. Once I saw the transformation in my life by just saving my coins, I starting saving 20 dollar bills and keeping them around in sight. I would even play a game with myself, I would put a little bit of money in my pocket and go to the store and look at things that I could spend my money on, but did not buy.

What this game of saving taught me is that a little bit of saving goes a long way. I can make the choice to spend anytime I want and worry about not having enough. Or I can make a choice to focus on saving and choose to spend with purpose and intent. Spending just because you can leaves you with a lot of worrying.
