Pros and Cons of Getting a Second Dog
This week’s blog is 100% crafted by our daughter Hadley (completely unsolicited by Heather and me, yet directed to us), and demonstrates perfectly the learnings and wisdom she has gained from our family’s participation in Project Money…
Pro 1#: PLAYING. If we get a second dog Roxy will have someone to play with at home. If Roxy has another dog to play with she might be calmer if a friend comes over. If we get a dog Roxy might not need a kennel because we know they would play and sleep on the couch, not play on the couch though.
Con #1 SPENDING. If we get a second dog it will cost more, more food, more money for vet, another kennel and just the dog in general. If we got another dog it would mean more trips to the vet and more money. For the dog park we would have to buy two dog park tags, even though they don't cost a lot for one dog they do for two.
PRO #2 TWICE THE FUN. If we got a second dog Roxy and your 3 daughters would have a lot of fun together. We would play outside more too. If we had 2 dogs Phoebe and Hadley could walk them together.
CON #2 HASSEL. We know that Roxy is not good around dogs on a leash, but a dog standing right next to her?! At the dog park it will be twice the time, and if we're in a rush we wouldn’t have the time. We would have to train the 2nd dog most of Roxy’s tricks and that would take a lot of time.
PRO #3 SAVING. Now I don’t mean saving money I mean saving the dog. If we get another dog we would make the dog have a better life. And if we get a dog and we already have a dog, the dog will be even happier.
CON #3 SAVING. Now I’m talking about saving money. We wouldn’t be able to get a dog right now because of Project Money. Now I’ve already talked about all the savings so I want to talk about the dog. If we get a dog during the school year we would have to put the dog in a crate first thing which is very unfair. But like I said before, after we get the dog and have it in its crate for a little, Roxy and Him/Her could play around.
I hope this convinces you to either have a second dog or stick with one dog. Let’s save a dog or let’s save money.
