Megan and Scott's Journey:

prost!

Maybe it was the stop at our local German Christmasfest… but we are 99.9% certain that Germany is going to be our honeymoon destination! To continue with our wedding planning, we are now trying to figure the best ways to save on our honeymoon. To paint a picture of our post-wedding getaway, we want to follow these simple guidelines:

Certainly have the honeymoon immediately after the wedding! With our October nuptials, this limits opportunities for toes-in-the-sand classic romantic sunsets on sandy beaches sort of thing, but we don’t mind!

Stay within a budget… which we have yet to determine. Uf-dah.

Travel somewhere neither of us have been before!

Choose a location with plenty of natural landscape to explore!

You can invest as much or as little moola in your honeymoon while still making it absolutely memorable. We still would love to be able to choose anywhere in the world to go, it’s just finding a way to be able to afford it.  Our first step is to begin far enough ahead that we are able to get a good example of what types of costs will be involved.  We have also started a checklist to make sure everything is covered. We can also use this when the time comes to check off what we have saved for already so we know what we have left that needs to be covered.

We assumed that naturally, we’d save loads of money by planning the trip on our own and making reservations far in advance; however, many reputable wedding websites state that using a travel agent could actually save you money!? We’re going to have to send out a few calls and emails to inquire on local travel agents’ fees/insurance/etc. It’s quite tempting considering our cross-continental travel to make sure someone else is held accountable for reading all of the fine print. We still plan to continue our research so that we can talk the talk while discussing honeymoon opportunities with someone in the trade! We’re certain all our planning (with or without a travel agent) will provide us with the most incredible honeymoon we could imagine!

Peace, Love, and Lederhosen,

Scott + Megan
