Emily's Journey:

Recurring Subscriptions… ugh!

We are rounding out the end of June, and I must say, I thought I was really changing some spending habits and saving some cash. But, I’m feeling a little defeated by recurring subscriptions. Some of the subscriptions, not a big deal, $9, $13 here or there. Others are big ticket items! I had two subscriptions that I forgot to cancel my order on this month, one for $56 and the other for $130. This could have been easy money to have stashed away in my savings!!

So, I’ve decided this week to go through my subscriptions. When was the last time I used them? Do I feel that they are valuable to me? Do they spark joy? (Oh yes, you can bet Netflix sparks joy!) A couple of other things I’m going to look into, is if I have any annual or quarterly subscriptions that I can cancel. Sorry, FabFitFun, you have got to go. That one is definitely nice to have, but not a necessity.

After I have figured out what my subscriptions are and when they are scheduled to be shipped, I have some deciding to do. The ones that I decide to keep, I will put a reminder in my calendar a few days before they ship. Then I can decide, do I need that face scrub or pre-workout replenished that month? If not, I can log on to the website and push that date out for another month.

What do you think about monthly, quarterly, or annual subscriptions? Do you have any tips on managing them?
