Karl and Heather's Journey:

Roxy’s Holiday Expressions

Throughout our months in Project Money we have shared feelings and thoughts of every family member with the exception of one…Roxy. The fact that she is a dog is all the more reason for us to share how she’s handling the elevated financial stress of the holiday season.

The fact of the matter is, if we are on-edge, grouchy or generally freaked out, she knows it and cranks up her own levels of neurotic-ness. Here are some of her Project Money-inspired behaviors this week…judge for yourself how she is coping:

  • Sprawled on her back with paws twitching during this evening’s news. Despite weather alerts, power outages and stranded holiday travelers, she knows that because we are saving dollars by staying close to home this year and setting a thrifty budget for gifts, she can rest easy (very easy)!

  • Encouraging us to gather her dingy chew tows for a cycle through the washing machine. Despite her love of every-single-one of them, she acknowledged that she does in fact have more than she needs and has agreed to part with some. She requested that these be donated to other needy canines spending the holidays at the shelter.
  • Rather than expensive outings at doggie daycare, she has been inspiring us to take her on longer walks and free trips to dog parks. Dashing through the snow makes Roxy and happy and healthy holiday pooch.

So take it from Roxy this year; when you exercise sound financial decision making and restraint, you can be as happy as a dog with a stocking full of Christmas treats!
