Jaclyn and Kiara's Journey:

Save whenever and wherever you can!

So guys, it has been a really long week for us. Thank goodness for meal prepping and daily naps. We did a thing this week that we probably shouldn’t have but that’s what these blogs are for right? It wasn’t anything super huge but we did spend some money that we didn’t account for. We ended up getting our eyebrows done, bought new foundation and a new bow tie for a wedding that we attended this weekend. The thing is though that since we have changed our spending habits and started truly budgeting our money, these purchases won’t truly hinder us in any way. It won’t affect us paying our bills or transferring our weekly savings money. So while it was something we shouldn’t have done, our finances are just as strong as ever.

We want people to always remember to look for the good deals in order to save on purchases, no matter how big or small. So remember that bow tie we were talking about earlier? In a store, that beautiful mint green bow tie would have cost us $40 plus tax but instead it only cost us $12.66. Most people don’t feel comfortable doing so, but we want you to never avoid asking a store if they will match their online price. Generally, as long as it is the same exact item, they usually will. Just by asking that simple question, we were able to save over 70% on that one item. Also, if you are an avid shopper at a certain store or you frequently visit a restaurant you love, make sure to always sign up for any type of rewards program they offer so that you can always save a bit from time to time. Most places will offer some sort of points system so that once you reach a certain amount of points, you can get a certain amount of money applied to your purchase. Who doesn’t love free money right? They also usually do a free item or discount on your birthday too!

As someone that works in the hospitality industry, Kiara kind of dropped the ball this week and let’s just say we are grateful for good friends. As we said before, we attended a wedding this weekend and it was two hours away in Kenosha. We neglected to make reservations, and even with the discount for being an employee, we would have had to drive over an hour to actually get a good deal. Well for two people, that would have been up for over 24 hours by the end of the wedding, which was just not a safe or good decision. So we contemplated for hours during the wedding about whether or not we should just spend over $100 and just stay closer. Luckily for us, we happen to be great friends with one of the brides and was able to stay with her parents. But the better choice financially would’ve been to set up the reservation months ago when we first received the invitation instead of waiting and letting everywhere get booked up and prices going through the roof. So for future vacation plans, make sure to book early in order to save later! Congratulations to the beautiful brides and everyone, enjoy your week!
