The Saving Game
Week 8 of the challenge. I’m starting to feel myself get somewhat uptight about spending money. Let me be honest, I have always been uptight about spending money but being in the challenge has made me a little more anxious about spending. Plus the NBC 15 news stories came out this week, so now there are extra eyes watching. When you have your friends and family cheering you on, you feel the pressure to do your best. I went to the movies this week with a girlfriend and was down on myself thinking, “Oh my goodness I spent too much money on dinner.” However I NEVER spend a lot of money on dinner, so she reminded me that it’s okay to spend some money on self-care. That’s true, but I know I won’t be going out again this month!
This week I talked to my financial coach about my personal savings account. I told her that I was having a hard time saving in my personal account if I didn’t have a solid amount to put toward what I’m saving for. My saving goals are; saving are for a home, education and family trips. I needed solid dollar amounts for these things. We scheduled a time to talk with a mortgage lender and he give me a good idea of what I should be saving for my first home. Best way to get your dreams in motion is to figure out what the best next step is.
My homework this week was to also talk to a business accountant about how to manger my business account. I’m looking forward to this week to sit down and talk to a business accountant. I have not done this before, I have had someone do my taxes but not help manage my business account. This should be interesting, I’m curious to see how it will go. Go team! Yay!!
