Venus' Journey:

What’s next?

Now that I accomplished my goal of paying of my credit card debt and watching my credit score go up, now what’s next? The reason why I chose to focused just on my credit card because it was doing major damage to my credit score. One of my biggest goal is to purchase a house next year. Like I said before, it’s easy to get a house even if you have bad credit, but you will be forced to pay 10x more than someone for with better credit. Accomplishing paying off my credit card sets me up for a better deal on a home. Now more money can go into my savings account and now I want to start paying off my student loan, which is a lot more than my credit card.

I believe the most important thing to think about when picking your financial goals is choosing something that would set you up for future success. I could have easily just put more money into a savings account for house or put money into a trip for my daughter. However, I knew I wanted a house. When we talked to a mortgage loan officer at the bank and understood the process of what it takes to buy a house, I knew improving my credit score and paying of my credit card debt would be my major priority. Having savings is really nice, however having excellent credit is waaaaay better. For a business owner or entrepreneur, showing a good credit score opens doors for business loans, if needed. I am excited to start growing my saving for a house down payment and start making serious steps at paying off my student loan.
