We're passionate about improving our members' lives, but it's also important to us to better our local community. "People helping people" is at the core of the credit union difference.
At Summit, we believe a strong community benefits everyone, so we work to develop lasting relationships with partners, working together to make a difference.
We focus on working with organizations that support these initiatives:
Advancing Equity
Reducing inequities by helping ensure that all people have the resources to reach success.
Financial Wellbeing
Providing access to financial resources, education and opportunities to build economic wellbeing.
Women's Empowerment
Fostering leadership, providing access to education and promoting the economic wellbeing of women and girls.
>
We're proud to offer affordable, accessible financial solutions designed to improve the lives of all our members. For example, Summit has put $23 million into the Community Home Loans program, which allows individuals with moderate incomes and higher debt-to-income ratios to experience the benefits of homeownership.
Charitable Giving
In partnership with various organizations, we're working to make our communities grow strong. In 2022, we donated to more than 107 nonprofits, gave $20,325 in scholarships to students and provided financial education to high school students in the Urban League of Greater Madison's 21st Century Careers program.
Summit also hosts an annual employee giving campaign supporting United Way and Community Shares of Wisconsin.
Financial education is a core value at Summit, and we've made it a priority to create initiatives that help our members and the community reach financial goals. In 2022, we delivered free education programs to the public, reaching more than 45,000 people!
It's our mission to be an active member of the community - you could say it's part of our DNA as a credit union. One way we support our community is by working with local groups that help make life better for community members. We also encourage our employees to volunteer for organizations they feel passionate about.
The Money Smarts Fund: A Member Giving Opportunity
Stronger families, stronger neighborhoods, stronger communities and financial success for all. For us, that's what it's all about. As a Summit member, you support that mission every day, and when you donate to the Summit Money Smarts Fund, you play an even bigger role by supporting outreach and education programs that better the communities we serve.
The Summit Money Smarts Fund was established in 2015 through the Madison Community Foundation and has provided financial support to the following:
A Fund for Women
Boys & Girls Club
Girls, Inc.
The Foundation for Wisconsin Women Entrepreneurs
GIRLS'BIZ
