We’ve just had a ton of things going on all at once and finally caught a little ‘downtime’. Alisa’s summer graduate classes came to an end and we both wrapped up a couple of individual and joint projects. Thus, we were looking forward to an extended Labor Day Weekend and used this opportunity to catch up on a variety of things! For starters, we hosted a happy hour with friends and former co-workers – we all chipped in nibbles or drinks to share so it made it a very economical gathering! This was great because we were also finally able to celebrate our postponed anniversary, so we had planned for a lovely Italian pasta dinner at Ca’Lucchenzo in Wauwatosa and a pairing flight at Indulgence Chocolatiers! Krystal also spent a chunk of time doing her annual hatch pepper roasting at home, making and canning her popular hatch pepper jelly. The peppers ended up costing under $8 for a whole grocery bag full! These will be one of the many tasty homemade gifts we give this year during the holidays. We also spent some time catching up on house cleaning and laundry, as well as overdue shopping and returns. It’s so important to keep track of purchases, especially those that didn’t work out and you plan on returning. I mean, who doesn’t hate missing a return window on something they no longer need or didn’t fit?! We’ve noticed that some companies have recently changed their return policies and shortened return windows so it’s good to check the fine print and be mindful of that!We also attended a fundraiser for the Human Animal Welfare Society of Waukesha (HAWS), the place where Chai originally did her puppy socialization classes. We donated a little bit of money but also enjoyed brunch cocktails and bites along with it.Lastly, we spent some time meal prepping for the week ahead with a mix of items we had on hand and a few others we grabbed from a trip to Woodman’s to shave a little money off the grocery bill. All in all, it was definitely a mix of spend and save. One of the benefits of participating in Project Money is that we are far more cognizant of our spending and saving habits. Not only do we look at monthly spending but, for each week, we try to look back at the week prior and adjust the following week as part of the balancing act, so we’ll be doing that next week!Check out our social media post for more hatch pepper details!
