Traveling Prep On A Budget

October 11, 2023 I have been very fortunate to be invited to my sister and her boyfriend’s property in Costa Rica. It’s a family trip, as my two sisters Katie and Jayme are going, as well as their boyfriends Karl and Ben, my niece Hayden, and Ben’s extended family. Despite doing Project Money, I felt like this was a once-in-a-lifetime trip that all of us would be off together to go. So, I’ve been saving extra money in a separate travel account to pay for this trip. I am hoping to stay under $100 per day.  I should be able to monitor my expenses as I go with the Climbr® tool through Summit’s mobile app. I needed some quick-dry clothing for the trip. We are going ATVing and hopefully doing several days of hiking. I was able to score big time at the Columbia outlet store and Old Navy outlet in Oshkosh. They had 60% off everything. The original total at the Columbia outlet store was $183.95, and after the discount, the total was $78.86. The total at Old Navy before the discount was $111.96, and after the discount, it was $30.38! I am also bringing some of my previously purchased clothes for this trip, as I am definitely keeping Project Money in mind when I am prepping to go on this trip. I am also having my tenant watch my dog for discounted rent. This is extra special because number one and most important, Willow absolutely loves him, and two, she can stay at my home while I am away.  By having my tenant watch her, I am saving money, as my dog trainer was a little more expensive. I am hopeful that this will help, as I’ve mentioned before in other blogs, Willow has significant separation anxiety. I am expecting a setback in that when I return, but I am hopeful we can get back on track soon.
