Dawn, a stay-at-home mom and currently going back to school to earn her bachelor’s degree, and Marco, a pipelayer and woodworker, have three young children together and share a passion for selling goods at flea markets. With help from Project Money, they’re hoping to turn paycheck-to-paycheck living into a life they can enjoy without financial stress.
Q: Why did you apply for Project Money?A: The way we’ve been managing our finances hasn’t really helped us reduce debt. We’re bringing in more income, but we need to better use that income to pay down debt. We also want to find a balance between consolidating our bills and using our money on experiences, like taking a family vacation.Q: What’s the value of getting to work with a Summit Financial Coach?A: Adding the accountability factor we need to keep working toward our goals. Having a financial coach will also take some of the stress and anxiety out of trying to get a handle on our finances, as we will have someone there supporting us and rooting for our success.Q: What does financial confidence and financial security look and feel like to you? A: Knowing exactly where our money is going every paycheck. It will feel like we are finally in control of our finances and confident that we won’t fall into bad habits again.Q: What are you most excited about with this experience?A:Becoming more financially literate and having a better financial future. We want to save for our children’s college funds and teach them what we learn through this process as well.Q: What impact do you think this experience will have on your kids?A: We hope that it will break the cycle of being financially unstable and model better financial habits than those that were modeled to us. Our children deserve to be confident in their money management skills.Q: Fun fact about you?A: I (Marco) have been woodworking, building custom furniture and selling antiques at flea markets since I was a child with my parents. When Dawn and I first reconnected, and throughout our relationship, we have enjoyed doing flea markets together and with our family.
Your future is looking bright, Dawn and Marco!
