Kelli’s been a full-time elementary school teacher for over 22 years – while also working part-time at the YMCA and being a mom to two busy teenagers, Shaela and Hayden. Since her divorce 10 years ago, Kelli has been working hard to provide for herself and her kids. With Project Money, she’s ready to stop stressing and start living.
Q: Why did you apply for Project Money?A: I want to learn more about being financially well! I’m looking for the best ways to save for the future – from helping my kids finance college to preparing for retirement. It’s time to finally stop stressing about money!Q: What’s the value of getting to work with a Summit Financial Coach?A: I know that reading, listening to podcasts and doing other research has been helpful. However, working one-on-one with a coach will be the most powerful learning experience. I am looking forward to generating ideas, trying them out and then reflecting with someone who has knowledge in this area.Q: What does financial confidence and financial security look and feel like to you? A: Having a clear, specific and doable budget. I’ll be in control of the bills – the bills won’t be in control of me. Q: How would having that financial confidence and security impact your life overall, not just financially? A: I’d be more free to focus on health, family and fun. After I develop healthy financial habits, I will have even more confidence to work on other goals. Q: What impact do you think this experience will have on your kids?A: I really want to teach my kids good financial habits now so they are more prepared than I was entering adulthood. They know how competitive I am (and they are, too) so I’m hopeful this will help all of us stay on track!Q: Fun fact about you?A: I love to travel. I have a goal to visit all 50 states with my children, and this summer we are going to Alaska.
We’re excited about where this life-changing journey will take you, Kelli!
