Dakota, a customer service representative, and Beau, public works foreman, are newly married and enjoying life with their toddler daughter, Ila, and cats they adore. Dakota and Beau are hoping Project Money will help them build confidence in budgeting and give them the financial tools they need for their family’s future.
Q: Why did you apply for Project Money?
A: We applied to Project Money to help keep us on track with tasks so we can pay off debt and start having better savings habits. Our goal is to buy a home!
Q: What does “financial confidence and financial security” look like, and FEEL like, to you?
A: Having an actual decent amount of savings to fall back on in case of emergency and not having to put it on a credit card (starting the cycle of debt all over again). Overall freedom, not just with money but in life! Feeling less stress about financial problems opens up a lot of freedom in life.
Q: What are you most excited about? And what will be most challenging?
A: Most exciting thing about this experience is to be a part of it. The most challenging thing is going to be sticking to the budgeting – we feel that is a challenge for most people.
Q: What emotions come to mind when you think about money?
A: Generally, pretty good but stressed. We’re stressed due to the current economy, but we are not considered paycheck to paycheck. So, we would like to have less debt and more savings – that’s our main struggle points.
Q: What impact do you think this experience will have on your kids?
A: We hope the impact on her is going to be financial stability, to be able to have a good savings account for her future.
Q: Fun fact about you?
A: What we love in life is our daughter, she is the center of our world. Along with that is the outdoors! We love to hunt as much as possible in the fall and we get to share that love with each other and raise our daughter loving the woods.
We can’t wait to see you accomplish your Project Money goals, Dakota and Beau!
