A Whirlwind Week: Endings, Beginnings and Cherished Moments

October 9, 2024 Life has a funny way of blending endings with new beginnings, and this past week has been a whirlwind of both. With Matt's latest layoff coming to an end, we found ourselves packing our bags for a trip to Michigan to celebrate Britt’s best friend Katie’s wedding. The journey was filled with mixed emotions. While we were thrilled to be part of Katie and her fiancé’s special day, there was an undercurrent of disruption, especially for our little Oliver. Being out of his normal routine posed its own set of challenges, but it also gave us a chance to step back and enjoy some quality family time. Shout out to Britt’s mom, aunt and uncle for stepping in to help us and offering lots of free babysitting. One of the highlights of our trip was taking a mini break to explore one of the museums back in Michigan literally blocks away from Britt’s mom’s house. The history breathed new life into our spirits, offering a much-needed respite from the recent whirlwind of events. Oliver’s eyes widened with wonder at the exhibits, and it was heartwarming to see him so captivated by the world around him. The museum was a place where Britt visited many times throughout her childhood with family and elementary school field trips. Visiting family added another layer of joy to our trip. Catching up with loved ones, sharing stories and simply being in each other's company reminded us of the importance of family bonds. It was a reminder that no matter how chaotic life gets, family is the anchor that keeps us grounded. As we returned home, the reality of another transition set in: Britt’s last week at her current job. It’s a bittersweet moment, filled with reflections on the past and excitement for what lies ahead. Change is never easy, but it’s a necessary step towards growth and new opportunities.During all these changes, we’ve learned to embrace the unpredictable nature of life. As one chapter closes, another one begins, and through it all, we’re grateful for the memories made and the adventures yet to come. In all honesty, our budget was very hard to keep to this past week, but we tried our very best. We did have a few people like my mom and dad who were gracious enough to treat us to dinner since they don’t see us often. Britt’s grandma shared the driving and gas expenses with us as she carpooled with us to Michigan to attend the wedding as well. Stay tuned for more updates as we navigate through these new beginnings and cherish the moments that make life so beautifully unpredictable.
