Our Vegas Trip: Fun, Frustration, and Family

July 3, 2024 We just got back from our trip to Las Vegas, where Britt attended a business conference and Matt joined her for the last few days. We had a lot of fun, but also some challenges and frustrations. We also learned a lot about ourselves and our family. We had a scare when Matt almost lost his phone. He left it in a taxi, and we had to call the company and track it down. Luckily, the driver was honest and returned it to us for a small fee. We were not prepared for the heat. It was over 100 degrees every day, and we felt like we were melting. We wanted to leave early because we missed our son Oliver so much. He was staying with Britt’s mom and grandma, and we were grateful for their help, but we also felt guilty and anxious. We tried to change our flight, but it was too expensive. We ended up paying $800 to fly back a day earlier. It was worth it, but it also hurt our budget. The biggest lesson we learned from this trip was that we are not ready to be away from our first child for a week at 6 months old. We thought we could handle it, and that it would be good for us to have some couple time. We also thought that FaceTime would make it easier to stay in touch, but we were wrong. Also, before we lef,t we did take time to cancel our monthly subscriptions for our monthly car washes and Matt's OnStar and AT&T navigation. Looking for more ways to cut expenses next week!
