Survival Mode: The Start of Chaos and Joy

September 5, 2024 As the calendar flips to the next month, we find ourselves bracing for an intense period, one that we can only describe as survival mode. The whirlwind begins with a cascade of birthdays, each one a joyous occasion yet another gift on a growing list of budgeted expenses.Matt’s school is back in session, adding another layer of complexity to our daily routine. As if that weren't enough, he’s now on the second shift, which means our schedules rarely align, making coordination a feat of logistical gymnastics.Daycare with Oliver demands its own set of rituals and routines, each day a mini adventure. His boundless energy and curiosity are both a delight and a challenge, especially with teething on the horizon. Then there’s the impending travel to Michigan for Britt’s best friend’s wedding. While it promises to be a beautiful and memorable event, the preparation and the journey add another entry to balancing our budget.Despite the chaos, there’s something undeniably exhilarating about this time of year. It’s a time filled with milestones, celebrations and moments that will eventually unite into cherished memories. Survival mode isn’t just about enduring; it’s about thriving amidst the madness, finding joy in the journey and emerging stronger on the other side. So, here’s to the weeks remaining in September—a testament to our resilience, our capacity for joy and our ability to navigate the beautiful chaos that life so often throws our way all well trying to stay in budget. Most importantly, it’s looking at the whole picture and not just moments as they come to fully understand what is needed of us monetarily.
