Calculate Insurance Needs
I have really taken a lot of personal inventory since I started Project Money. I have focused on trimming the fat, as they say, from any added expenses that I can. Don’t get me wrong, I still enjoy the occasional dinner with friends or on a date, but one thing I thought I could do is take a closer look at my utility bill. That’s when I thought maybe I can use technology to my advantage. I don’t have central air. It’s one thing I’d eventually like to get but financially I just can’t right now. I do, however, use a window air conditioning unit. One issue that I noticed is that I need to cool my house for my dog Willow, but I don’t need to start running the AC until about 9 or 10 a.m. Most days I am out of the house way earlier than that. I found these little Bluetooth plugs online that I can set a schedule of when to turn it on and off for her wherever I am. I know that I could upgrade to an AC with a Bluetooth system that basically does the same thing, but the units I have right work, and I am really focused on paying down debt and saving money. Buying a new AC could really cut into that. I have found that this is a very cost-effective way to manage this issue.I have also had LED Bluetooth lights that I have set on timers too just in case I go to work and forget to turn them off. I know if may seem trivial to some, but the way I look at it, every little bit helps. I’m interested to see if it makes any difference at all. I will be eliminating a minimum of 15 hours of running time on my AC every week. I’m sure that should make a little bit of a difference. I’m excited to see if it really does make a difference on the next couple energy bills.
