Summit Credit Union To Build Full-service Branch On Monona Drive

June 20, 2017 Monona location will be the $2.7 billion credit union’s 34th officeMADISON, Wis.****— Summit Credit Union is expanding into Monona with construction starting in July on their newest full-service branch located at 5809 Monona Drive, next to Silver Eagle Bar & Grill. The former La Bamba restaurant is being torn down to make room for the 3,700-square-foot branch, which includes four drive-up lanes and 19 parking spaces. The branch, to open in mid-December with a grand opening celebration in January, will employ seven people including a mortgage loan officer.The new building will be located near the street with parking toward the back. The drive-up canopy will be linked to the rest of the building in both design and materials. The Monona branch will provide a contemporary addition to the look and feel of Monona Drive, which has undergone many positive changes in the last few years.Kim Sponem, CEO & president of Summit Credit Union, said a presence on Monona Drive makes the credit union more convenient for existing Monona members. “We look forward to bringing our cooperative business model to Monona, so even more people in the community can benefit from the savings we bring through better rates, lower fees and a whole host of financial education and wellness tools.”The Monona location brings the total to 34 branches for Wisconsin’s second largest credit union. In addition, Summit Credit Union plans to begin construction in 2017 on a new corporate headquarters and campus in Cottage Grove.
