Summit Credit Union Named to Forbes’ America’s Best-in-State Credit Unions List

July 20, 2026 Madison, Wisc. – Summit Credit Union, a member-owned financial cooperative, has made Forbes’ 2026 list of America’s Best-In-State Credit Unions – and holds the top spot for Wisconsin’s state ranking.“We are honored to once again be named one of the best credit unions and #1 in Wisconsin by Forbes. This exciting recognition reflects the trust our members place in Summit and our commitment to delivering outstanding service, trusted guidance and seamless digital experiences,” said Summit Credit Union CEO & President Kim Sponem. “We are proud to help women and all members build confidence, strengthen their financial well-being and achieve their goals at every stage of life.”The ranking is based on two sources:
  1. An Independent Survey: Approximately 26,000 U.S. residents were surveyed online. Participants were asked to name all credit unions where they have a checking/savings account and rate the credit unions in six different subdimensions: Trust, Terms & Conditions, Branch Services, Digital Services, Customer Services and Financial Advice.
  2. Publicly Available Reviews: For credit unions in each state, a sentiment analysis approach of publicly available online text reviews and ratings was applied.
In each state, credit unions with the highest combined score from the analysis of survey results and publicly available reviews were awarded recognition. The survey score was weighted at 80% and publicly available reviews 20%.
This prestigious award is presented by Forbes and Statista Inc., a statistics portal and industry ranking provider. The awards list can be viewed on the Forbes website*.*As with all Forbes’ lists, companies pay no fee to participate or be selected.
