Summit Credit Union Hosts Ribbon Cutting For New Cottage Grove Headquarters

March 5, 2019 Area business leaders, credit union community join for ceremony and toursCOTTAGE GROVE, Wis.— Summit Credit Union officially completed its new headquarters facility and campus with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Monday. Leaders of Madison-area businesses, the Madison and Cottage Grove chambers of commerce, and the larger credit union community attended the event, which included tours of the new 152,000-square-foot, six-story building and its facilities.“One word describes our new headquarters: wellness. The design incorporates an inspiration branch where members are reconnected with their goals that Summit can help them reach,” said Summit Credit Union’s 17-year CEO & President Kim Sponem. “It provides employees with a cleaner air environment, fitness, outside spaces, and is friendly to the environment. We are excited to be in Cottage Grove and a positive contributor to the community.”The new building features improved workspaces for employees, highlighted by eco-friendly flooring and lighting. There is also a 17,500-gallon rainwater harvest cistern to capture and reuse rainwater, as well as electric car chargers for Summit employees and members. Outdoor recreational spaces, including sand volleyball courts and a bike path, will also be available.The financial cooperative’s commitment to sustainability is also seen throughout the new facility as Summit works toward achieving its Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Silver certification, which recognizes reduced use of water, energy and greenhouse gas emissions.  Designed by Madison-based architecture firm Strang, Inc., construction of the building by J.H. Findorff & Son Inc. began in October of 2017. The new Cottage Grove campus, located at 1709 Landmark Drive, officially opens on Monday, April 1, and includes a full-service Summit branch.
