Summit Credit Union Opens Branch In Madison West High School

October 3, 2019 Fourth in-school branch provides students financial resources, education opportunitiesMADISON, Wis.— Summit Credit Union opened an in-school branch at Madison West High School this month. The branch is Summit’s fourth, joining locations in Madison’s East, Memorial and La Follette high schools.“Opening a branch in Madison’s West High School gives us the opportunity to reach more students and help them build skills and confidence around money,” said Summit CEO & President Kim Sponem. “Having a presence in the school will allow us to share valuable financial tools that students are able to use for the rest of their lives.”The branch provides students with opportunities to develop saving and budgeting habits, and it offers employment experience through internships at the branch. Summit also provides an annual $500 student scholarship for each high school with an in-school branch. Additionally, West High students will now be eligible for Project Teen Money, a financial competition encouraging teens to teach their peers about spending, saving and giving while competing for a $2,500 grand prize scholarship.The branch also offers resources to help teachers and parents foster sound money management and financial literacy skills in their students and children. Summit offerings include advice for college cost planning and budgeting, first-time car buying, paycheck management and more.The is located at 30 Ash St. and offers services to students and staff during lunch periods when school is in session. This location brings Summit’s total to 40 branches in Wisconsin. Summit is Wisconsin’s second largest credit union.
