Changes

August 2, 2023 With summer winding down quickly, we did not take our usual big summer trip. Partially because of the money aspect but also time. Summer literally went by in the blink of an eye. School starts at the end of August for us. It’s bittersweet. I’ve had time to think about all we have done, what I wanted to do, but also what other fun can be had in the next few weeks.Since being in Project Money, I have been thinking outside the box on doing free, community-based activities. This has really reminded me that kids can have fun with almost anything; it doesn’t have to cost hundreds of dollars. Saving money I knew would have or could have been spent feels good! The kids are starting to get into routine more with saving and have started to ask more questions about saving money, which I use as a learning lesson. Now that everyone seems to be on board, it will be easier to make the changes I would like so I don’t feel guilty for saying no. As much as I would like to do bare minimum spending, I understand it still has to happen, and I was reminded that I still have to live my life. Learning to live my life while on a budget is a change, but it’s a good change.
