Calculate Insurance Needs
This week we met with Jess, our Project Money coach, and it was a family affair. Travis, the kids and I all crowded into her office and had a good old family financial counseling session! Our daughter came along to hear Jess’s advice on student loans and planning for college expenses. Travis and I had our regular coaching and accountability check-in with the state of our finances. Our son sat in the corner looking bored, but we knew he was soaking it all in, and we were likely planting seeds that will help him make better decisions regarding his money in the future. We discussed the subject of awareness at length and realized just how much we have changed our attitudes towards money since the beginning of our journey. Our daughter commented that she can see a difference because we are not taking her along on weekly trips to Target anymore. If she wants something, she has to go there herself, and that results in her only getting the item that she really needs and not filling mom’s cart up! A key takeaway from this is that seemingly small changes add up over time! For example, a lot of small items in the cart can add up to a hundred-dollar bill more quickly than you think. This type of thinking will serve her well as she heads off to college in a couple of weeks. Wow, week 10, and we are still going strong! ~K & T
