Calculate Insurance Needs
On Saturday, I had to go to Target to get a few things, and afterwards, I stopped at TJ Maxx just to look around. Usually when I go to either of these stores, I find something I think I need or want to try and usually end up not touching it. This time was different. This time, I stuck to the list of things I needed and bought nothing extra or unnecessary, even if there was a good deal or sale (which is my weakness).I found a lot of things that I wanted to buy, but I talked myself out of it every time by thinking, “I could spend $20 on this or have $20 in my pocket,” and I chose having the $20 to myself every time. Now, Project Money is partially to thank. However, I’m also in the process of decluttering and getting rid of unused items in the house, and it’s been eye opening to seeing how many unnecessary things I’ve bought over time that either have never been used or rarely were used. I’ve been amazed to see how much money I’ve blown. I’ll also admit this “spring cleaning” project has taken longer than expected because there’s simply just not enough time in a day, so adding more things to the house will just add to the lengthiness of the process – and I’d like to get it over with, not extend it! Whatever the motivation was behind my discipline, I’m proud of myself. It may seem like something so simple, but it was a major accomplishment given my track record. I’ll keep this mindset going, and hopefully, I will see big results.
