Ready, Set, Go!

June 19, 2023 Project Money is gearing up for the 15th season. I can’t believe that I was picked, but I’m so excited for this opportunity. It’s harder than it sounds to save money, and when you are truly trying, it seems like even more money gets spent since something breaks, or one of the kids outgrows summer clothes, a bill increases, etc. Now that I’m conscious of my spending, I’ve realized how much I unnecessarily spend on little things that add up. My reminder to myself is one day at a time, and when I do spend or think I have to, I’m conscious of what I’m spending and trying to find a cheaper route which helps save a little here and there. I always remind myself of the end goal for motivation! One of the ways I am changing habits is by holding myself accountable and letting the people around me do so as well. I’m very open about this program, my financial status and my goals, and I allow vulnerability. My financial coach has been very helpful so far and offered great suggestions. One of the things we have done so far is consolidate some accounts and invest into CD accounts that earn a higher interest, which I probably would not have taken initiative on before. My advice to anyone looking to save money, reduce debt and make money is to ask questions, be open minded and be open to suggestions.
