Ready…set…action!

June 28, 2023 This week we met with Jess, our amazing Project Money coach, and we came away with an action plan. It felt so good to take our concerns and challenges and flip the way we looked at them so that we could turn them into actionable items:
  1. Groceries – There will inherently be challenges with spending too much money on groceries, take-out and dining out because LIFE IS BUSY. Instead of cutting back over the next two weeks, we are going to start by taking an honest look at when it is that we overspend and see if we can change some of the behaviors and situations. The first step for us is awareness.
  2. Credit card payments – Listing and compiling all the credit card statements last month was an eye opener for us. There are just way too many! The fact that we have kept up on making at least the minimum payments on all these accounts is worth celebrating.  However, we learned this week that life could be less stressful by rolling all this high-interest credit card debt into a home equity line of credit (HELOC). The best part is Summit is offering this line of credit at 0% interest for 6 months. We will save $200 on interest monthly and pay off the debt completely in so much less time. It feels so good to know that we can use tools like these to make our money and investments work for us.
In other news, the graduation party was a success! Next week, our family will attend our daughter’s college orientation. We look forward to learning about the tools that Summit offers to assist with making college affordable and ultimately DOABLE. Go Project Money!
