Calculate Insurance Needs
Over the past few months, I have been getting emails for deferred compensation through my job. I finally decided to stop ignoring them and open the email, which prompted me to get curious with my retirement funds. I knew I had rolled over an account with a financial advisor from Summit from a past employer a few years ago, and I knew I had some funds in an account from an employer I left last August. Now I’m being emailed to start up another account. I learned my lesson at the beginning of Project Money with having money all over the place, and I knew it would be easier long term to have any money for retirement in one place for easier access later in life. That pushed me to meet with a financial advisor through Summit and another one through my employer to get educated on retirement accounts and how to proceed with both what I have and what I want. I know I’m young now, but time moves quick. I know I can only do so much with my financial situation now, but I can be proactive for the future. I feel like I’m all over the place with my money, but the financial advisor reassured me that I am doing well and better than most in their 20s. I feel more confident in my finances and my choices this week than I did last week, and I’m confident that I will reach any goals that I set for this project.
