Calculate Insurance Needs
There hasn’t been much going on in our household lately. Baseball has winded down (before fall ball, of course), and we aren’t running around every night for one reason or another. We have been able to spend time at home and relax, and we also have had the ability to do other spur-of-the-moment activities, which has been nice. It almost feels odd that there is “nothing” to do. I haven’t been doing a ton of spending, but every once in a while, we’ll do a “big” activity. I’m enjoying this time of calmness, and I’m thinking toward the future. I catch myself thinking that since I saved money while not doing a certain activity, now I can spend it on something else. I’m trying to maintain a mindset of not spending the money I’ve already saved, which is an accomplishment, and to keep this money saved. At my last meeting with my Summit financial coach, we talked about saving a certain amount of my income per month in a money market account, and then saving what I can in my other money market. I think watching those two accounts grow is helping my mindset of saving what I don’t spend instead of spending it on something else. I meet with my coach again in the coming weeks, and I think we will be able to brainstorm more ideas on saving based on my progress so far. Until then, I will keep being mindful of my saving and spending and take this project one day at a time.
