Random Call, Text or Email?

When you get an out-of-the-blue text, phone call or email, do you sometimes wonder if it’s really who it says it is?Hey, it’s smart to be cautious! Fraudsters are good at pretending to be reliable financial institutions and other businesses, and their caller ID, text or email might even say they’re from “Summit Credit Union” or include a Summit logo.

Here are two things you can do when you’re unsure about a contact you get:

  1. Don’t ever share personal information in reply to random calls, texts or emails. While Summit does send out fraud alerts via text and phone, we will NEVER contact you unsolicited and ask for any of the following:
  • Your online or mobile banking username/password – including a one-time password to prove your identity
  • Your PIN (we don’t even have or store this number, so we’ll never ask you to share it as proof of your identity)
  • Your debit card or credit card number, or any other account number
2. If it’s a phone call, hang up and call us directly at 800‑236‑5560. Feel free to go to our website and confirm that number! Don’t use the contact information given to you by the caller. You can always ask for the caller’s name before you hang up, so that you can ask to speak to that person when you call our direct line. And remember not to click on any text or email links asking for personal info! If you think you’ve been a victim of a scam, reach out to us right away at 800-236-5560. And if you’ve experienced a fraud attempt or have heard about a scam you’d like to report, email us at . Please do not email any private or personal information. Please share details with us when you hear of, or experience, a possible scam! This helps us inform and protect our members and community.WANT MORE FRAUD-FIGHTING TIPS?Keep exploring more ways to .
